This page will introduce you to Sriwittayapaknam School, our link school.

Sriwittayapaknam School (pronounced see-wit-ta-ya-pak-nam) is in Samut Prakarn which is an industrial city about 35 kilometres south of Bangkok in Thailand.

The Buildings
The school consists of two large buildings. Building One (on the left of the picture below) has 5 floors. The gym occupies the entire 5th floor. Building Two (on the right) has 6 floors. The computer centre occupies the entire 6th floor.
You can find out more about the school by visiting their website.

The school has about 1700 students and 76 teachers. They have Triam Anuban (Preschool), Anuban (kindergarten), Prathom (primary) and Mattayom Ton (Junior High) students. The ages range from 3 to 15.

The School Day
Some students start arriving as early as
5.45 a.m. They are dropped off early by their parents who work in Bangkok.

At the front gate, the students must wai the duty teachers before entering the school. They do this to show respect and also as a form of greeting.
Before the students can go up to the classroom, they must take off their shoes at the bottom of the steps.
Shoes are not allowed to be worn in the classrooms.

Assembly starts at 8 a.m. every morning and then the students go up to their classrooms. The students have one break in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lunch is eaten in the classrooms before the students head down to the playground. On Friday afternoons, the students take part in Buddhist chanting before going home.

Twice a week, the students have inspection for cleanliness. On Tuesdays, the students have their nails inspected. These must be kept short and clean. On Wednesdays, the students have their ears checked. Again, these must be kept clean. The inspections always takes place before the national anthem, so that on these days the students have to go down to assembly earlier.

Break Times:

A large variety of snacks are on offer for the students. There is a Snack Shop. Other students play games in the playground such as football and basketball. Running and tag games are also popular.

The trees provide shelter from the hot sun.

At the end of the day the students on duty have to clean the classroom. They clean the board and empty the rubbish bins, sweep the floor and then mop it. Paper in the recycle bins is taken down to the recycle area.
