The Tudors were a Welsh-English family that ruled England from 1485 to 1603 - one of the most exciting periods of British history. During this time, Britain was a more stable and peaceful place than it had ever been. There were rebellions, and minor wars between England, Scotland and France. But the turmoil that had been experienced during the fifteenth century, with its civil wars and exhausting struggle against the French, was over for good. Read more....

1591 First performance of a play by William Shakespeare
1600 First British involvement in the Indian continent - East India Company formed.
