| Our School and its Organisation |
Our school opened in September 1964, and caters for boys and girls, aged 7-ll. At present, there are approximately 360 children on roll. We have twelve classrooms, a music room, a library, a hall with fixed apparatus and an opportunity centre. Our school is set in 'pleasant' grounds with a large field, and adventure play area. Take a Photo Tour of our school.
In September 2001, there will be approximately 371 on roll. All the staff are qualified teachers. Classes are unstreamed. Pupils are sometimes set for mathematics across the year group. Children are taught mainly by individual teachers. Boys and girls are not separate for any activity. Class sizes vary from about 25 pupils to 32 pupils.
Children are taught in year groups, except when the numbers make it impossible and two year groups have to amalgamated.
| Admissions Criteria |
A registration form is available from the school. If you would like to visit the school please telephone the school office.
As from September 2001, we will be linked with Woodlands Infant School for admissions.
| The Curriculum | [ More
details ] |
Our school aims to provide a happy, ordered and structured environment based on mutual respect and consideration for others and possessing space, amenities, books and equipment to:
- foster each child's intellectual, physical, aesthetic, spiritual, emotional, moral and social development;
- help every child to enjoy his/her school work and find satisfaction and a sense of achievement;
- enable each child to realise his potential through the development of the necessary skills, concepts and knowledge;
- develop his/her ability to reason;
- incubate a love of learning and learn how to learn; create an atmosphere where learning is valued;
- help him/her to pose questions and devise investigations to answer them, interpreting the results critically.
Take a look at our Open Evening photographs to see our students work.
You can also read about the curriculum taught in each year group, by visiting the appropriate Year Group Guide.

We prefer children not to wear jewellery to school at any time but if your child has pierced ears studs are much safer other earrings can get caught causing serious injury. Large earrings are not permitted.
What about P.E. and Games?Your child will need:
NOTE:
All jewellery must be removed for P.E. and Games.
For reasons of hygiene we feel your child must change into different clothes
and shoes for P.E. and games.
An
old shirt or other washable apron for art and craft work would be really
useful.
Please label all clothes and fit hanging loops to coats.
During the Summer Term, when your child receives swimming lessons, he or she will need a named towel and swimming costume.
| Clubs and Extra Curricular Activities |
We believe extra-curricular activities play a very important role in the life of the pupil and the school. We therefore offer a variety of clubs for our students to join and enjoy. (See more...)
Many of our students also learn a musical instrument with Kent Music School.
