The River Severn at Gloucester

Gloucester is a city and county town of Gloucestershire. It was founded in AD 48 by the Romans as Glevum. Gloucester is located on the eastern bank of the River Severn.

Gloucester is a port. The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal runs from the Gloucester's docks to the Severn Estuary, allowing larger ships to reach the docks than would be possible on the tidal reaches of the river itself.
