Garden Cliff, Strand

The tidal Severn has eaten into the 30m hill at Strand and revealed a multi-coloured sequence of reddish Triassic mudstones in the cliff.

Key vocabulary

Cliff
A cliff is any steep slope that has been formed by natural processes.

River Cliffs
Cliffs created by rivers as they undercut their banks. The are usually found on the outside of the bend (meander) of a river and may be from a few metres to hundreds of metres high.
