Welcome back to what promises to be an exciting and action-packed term! We started the week off with a really marvellous Science Day. The children were treated to a wonderful Victorian melodrama which explained all about sound – did you know that the lowest sound frequency that we can hear is 20 vibrations per second? All the classes then investigated the properties of bouncy balls – what fun we all had……and only a few damaged lights in each classroom!
Thank you to those parents who struggled through the most torrential rain to attend the SATs meeting last night. Don’t worry if you missed it, all the information will be handed out during parent consultation meetings next week.
I am already receiving the most wonderful responses to the Headteacher Question of the Term – all about food around the world. I have had some tasty snacks to sample (yummy..), several brilliant models and accompanying menus, an entire edible Egypt and many posters and research projects. Thank you so much. The deadline for responses is Wednesday 24th March in order to give me time to write certificates for everybody. Thank you.
Here is a reminder of the question:
***** Headteacher’s Question of the Term – Spring 2010 ***** The theme for the second question this year is ‘Food Around the World’. What can you find out about the foods that are eaten in different parts of the world? - What
are the most unusual things that are eaten in different countries? Present
your findings in an exciting and eye-catching way. Surprise me... |
Thank you for returning your consultation forms so promptly. If you haven’t yet managed to book an appointment, please contact your child’s class teacher - these meetings are vital to ensure the good progress of your child. Their books will be available to view before your appointment so please build in the time to look through them. Thank you.
As we have parent consultations next week, some clubs will be running and some clubs will not. If your child’s club has to be cancelled you will have received a note home from the teacher concerned. Don’t forget to check in your child’s bag!
Mr Hine, our lovely caretaker, has asked me to remind you that that trainers which are sent in to be worn for PE need to be mud-free. Obviously this really helps the cleaners. Thank you.
Netball
We started the matches this week without the rain but it didn’t last! Both teams had a difficult time trying to shake off the opposition, however the last quarter saw them triumphant. The A team won 5-1 and B team won 4-0. Well done to all.
The ideas come from the Food Standards Website (www.eatwell.gov.uk) and are age appropriately balanced. This week, how about:
- Double Decker Sandwich of Ham and Salad;
- Mini Blueberry Muffin;
- Mixed Dried Fruit
- and a Kiwi Fruit.
Bon Appetit!
Helpers Needed! Our Spring Book Fair will be held during the mornings of Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th March. The support for our last Book Fair was fantastic – it would be great if we could repeat this enthusiasm! If you are able to help on either of these mornings, please contact Mrs. Harbour in the School Office.
The arrangements for the Book Fair are as follows:
Monday 15th March 9.15-11.45 a.m. children viewing with their class;
Tuesday 16th March 9.15-11.45 a.m. children buying with their class.
As 5C are on a trip on the Monday, they will be able to view the books on Friday 12th March. 5BA are on a school trip on the Tuesday so they will be able to buy their books on Wednesday 17th March.
If you would like to buy a book with your child, please visit the Fair between 8.30 and 8.55 a.m. on Tuesday morning. This session is only for those children who are accompanied by an adult. If you are unable to come with your child, they will have the opportunity to buy with their class. Please refer to the leaflet coming home with your child today.
Every Disabled Child Matters invites you to a day of family fun and information on Saturday 27th March between 10.30 and 2.00 p.m. at Alexandra Suite, Swanley. Further information can be obtained from Partnership with Parents on 01622 350650 or via their e-mail address partnershipwithparents@kent.gov.uk
