This has been a very exciting week for our Y6 children who discovered which secondary school they will be going to in September. I am sure they are looking forward to this new phase in their lives.
As we had already dressed up for World Book Week in October we decided to celebrate this term by pairing up with another class for reading this afternoon. The children always enjoy this activity and are able to enjoy sharing a book with another pupil.
More and more wonderful answers to this question are pouring in. We even had some food to sample, this week – lovely cheese puffs – they were absolutely delicious. I also received a fantastic leaflet about the more unusual food s that has been eaten through the ages – how about stuffed dormice? – apparently a favourite with the Romans!
Here is a reminder of the question, the deadline is March 24th:
***** Headteacher’s Question of the Term – Spring 2010 ***** The theme for the second question this year is ‘Food Around the World’. What can you find out about the foods that are eaten in different parts of the world? - What
are the most unusual things that are eaten in different countries? Present
your findings in an exciting and eye-catching way. Surprise me... |
It was lovely to see so many parents at consultations this week. If you have not managed to see your child’s class teacher, please do make an appointment via your child’s homework diary or through the office.
We are now ready to use our ParentMail messaging system – in fact we have already used the text messaging service on Thursday to notify parents that Strings Club had been cancelled. From next week, the Newsletter will be e-mailed to all parents who have registered with ParentMail. It will also, as usual, be available on the school’s website. Paper copies will continue to be sent home to parents who have not registered but we are really hoping to keep that to a minimum so if you have not yet confirmed that you would like to join ParentMail, please contact the School Office. All we need is an e-mail address which will be used to forward letters and newsletters and a mobile phone number which would be used to text you more urgent messages such as cancellation of after-school clubs or school closures.
You should have received a parent questionnaire during your consultation this week. Please take a few minutes to complete and return it.
Congratulations to Emily P, Nikky, Poppy and Kye in 4FD who raised £17.07 for the Stroke Association and £17.07 for Cancer Research.
Woodlands ‘A’ Team has done it again, three matches and three wins! Our first match was a friendly against Long Mead and the score was 4 -1. We then played a very tight game against Hildenborough, the final score being 3 -1. Our final game last night was against Capel and the score was 7 -2. Parent supporters were impressed by the boys continued demonstration of teamwork and their commitment to playing football in a sportsmanlike way. Particular praise went to Tim for his excellent work in defence! Congratulations again boys, only one match to go – no pressure.
The ideas come from the Food Standards Website (www.eatwell.gov.uk) and are age appropriately balanced. This week, how about:
Bon Appetit!

Good news from Mrs Fraser who gave birth to Maria Francesca last Sunday morning. Mother and baby are doing very well!
