Food
The traditional way to eat food is to sit on the floor around
a bamboo table, where you help yourself to a selection of continuously
replenished dishes. All the meals, eaten in
North Thailand, are the same and consist of "sticky rice"
with all manner green plants.
Food is plentiful as in all parts
of Thailand. Gay yang, barbecued chicken with pepper sauce and
garlic, is a favourite dish.

Fish is hung out to dry before cooking. |

|
The people of Isaan eat
a variety of animals and insects too. These include snakes, lizards,
frogs, toads, fish, snails, field crabs, all birds and their
eggs, most insects, chicken, buffalo, pork and beef.
