Making a School Website |

Adding Graphics to your Web PageYou need a graphic program such as Adobe Photo Shop to create banners and titles and also a background image. There are now many different graphic programs on the market that are specifically aimed at people who want to create web sites. These often come with a library of ideas and ready-made banners which are easy to adapt. Our students find Ulead PhotoImpact an easy program to use. These graphic programs also have the facility to optimise your photographs which is an essential tool to enable images to load faster on a page. You can also buy CD-Roms that have thousands of graphics that you can use. For example, a flashing “new” sign clearly shows people which pages were recently added. If you search for webmaster resources on the internet you will find sites where you can download graphics like these for free. Word of warning: Be careful not have too many graphics or pictures on one page as it will take time for it to download. Generally, people are impatient on the internet and they will leave your web site if it takes a long time to load. There has to be a careful mix of text and pictures. Text will always appear first so give them something to read while they are waiting for the pictures to load. |
